Design Story

Behind the Illustration

Francesca drew this after a documentary about mushrooms, about how they have outlasted almost everything and how they are all quietly connected underground. She noticed that our veins and arteries braid the same way those roots do, and the design grew out of that. The Japanese character in the pattern reads growth; everything is connected, and everything is beautiful.
